Welcome to the Lilleshall Cricket Club website

The club runs three senior teams in the Shropshire cricket League, sponsored by fbc manby bowdler, as well as a thriving junior section for under 11s, under 13s and under 15s.  We are a ClubMark registered club which represents our commitment to providing juniors with a safe and well managed environment in which they can learn, practise and enjoy cricket.

This website is complementary to our official Play Cricket ECB website that we still use for recording scores and to access other ECB related resources.  You can read the match reports from all games (seniors and juniors) on our blog site.

Note that this is a closed group and your application will have to be approved by the administrators.  The site is administered by the senior players and their decision is final.  Just as in real cricket - all appeals will be routinely turned down no matter how passionate!!

Parent's Survey 2009 (now closed)

Thank you for your responses - this survey is now closed for this year.  We received six responses which were broadly positive about the club and the way in which we run the junior coaching.  One parent commented:

"First year for my son who has thoroughly enjoyed himself.  I am pleased that he joined this club rather than one of the closer alternatives."

There are also things that you said we could do better and these include:

• improving the consistency of match reports across all ages (ratings varied from very good to fair);
• improving awareness of the on-line handbook;
• review the way we manage mixed ability groups;
• improve our feedback and the the transparency of our decision making;
• clarify our selection policy;
• updates to the website on when and where to meet (for matches) etc;
• review the availability of facilities at home matches; and
• increase the awareness of Clubmark.

These comments are important to us and help us identify areas where we can improve further.  We will be reviewing and discussing these during the close season and we will incorporate them into our 2010 plans.  If any parent would like a full copy of the survey of the results then don't hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to provide this directly.

Date for your diary - Friday 12th March is Charlie French Kit Sale Night.  Join us at Lilleshall to hear the acclaimed independent bat maker Charlie French  give a talk on how he makes his bats with an opportunity to browse and purchase items from the CF Sports range with plenty of on the night bargains.  From 7pm.

Coaching News

Congratulations to our latest new coach Rob Bagshaw who has successfully completed his level 1 coaching certificate and will be helping run coaching sessions in 2010.  Rob is a regular in the senior squad and he will be a real asset to our coaching staff.

A Night at the OSCAS

At the SCB OSCAS and Coaches Association Awards on Friday 27th at Wrekin College, Lilleshall were proud to have two of their coaches rewarded for their efforts.  Peter Maltby, Senior Coach and Long seving stalwart of the club,was presented with The Outstanding Coaching achievement and John Witty was also recognised for Outstaning Contribution and Services to Cricket Coaching.

Club Chairman, Colin Wetherley-Mein, said:

"The Club should be very proud of Peter and John. For two members from the Club to be honoured reflects greatly on the standards and ambitions that they have set."

Our congratulations to Pete and John for their well deserved recognition.
