Welcome to the Lilleshall Cricket Club website
The club runs three senior teams in the Shropshire Cricket League, as well as a thriving junior section for under 11s, under 13s and under 15s. We are a ClubMark registered club which represents our commitment to providing juniors with a safe and well managed environment in which they can learn, practise and enjoy cricket.

Parents Survey
We have made a number of changes to the coaching this season and the club is keen to find out what you think. Please complete our short on-line survey to have your say in how the club junior section is run. We hope to invite parents to a social evening in the New Year to discusss the responses and outline our plans for the 2009 season. Don't worry if you're the shy type - the survey is completely anonymous.

Lilleshall Invitation XI vs Thomas Telford Staff XI - Tuesday 24th June
This turned out to be an excellent and highly entertaining evening (despite the weather) with Thomas Telford claiming victory in a well contested game. For the personal observations of one of the player/coaches (and to add your own) log on to the blog.
Senior match reportsA maiden century for First XI skipper Nick Clewley against Acton Reynald notching up 257 in his last three innings since injury (clearly that crack on the finger has had a lasting effect); not bad for a man who made his reputation as an opening bowler! Sadly the game was rain affected, as was the game between the Second XI and Claverhall with only the Thirds getting a result - losing at Trysull. Read Ian Bate's latest round up of the action from the Firsts Seconds and Thirds.
Junior match reports
A great season for all our juniors with some very good performances. See the blog for match reports on u11s u13s and u16s including video footage of an u11s game. Access the blog to catch a summary of the u11 season.
Junior handbook
Don't forget to take some time out to read through your junior handbook. Have a look at skill drill 10 on how to play the pull shot (good for those wider deliveries outside leg stump) and skill drills 11 through to 13 on gripping the ball for bowling and the basic bowling action. You can also brush up on your fielding positions from the diagram on page 33. New skill drills now available on swing and seam bowling (see below) and another one to come on playing the square cut.
An update for the handbook on swing bowling is now available - please see Andy (u11 coach) for a copy.

Following my official complaint after the Wolverhampton game I have received a response from the League. They accept the points I have raised about the disappointment experienced by the u11 team, coaches and parents and they have stated that they will raise the issue with Wolverhampton. However, they also believe it to have been a genuine oversight by Wolverhampton and for this reason they have decided that the league positions should stand. This confirms Lilleshall as runner-up which still represents a fantastic achievement by the u11s; something in which we should all take a great deal of pride and satisfaction.
For 2009, if some of the proposed changes to the junior league take place, we will be playing sides that are closer to home in any case. Chris Dirkin outlined his plans for this when he came to the club on 28th July.
I would like to thank the league for reviewing and responding to the issue so swiftly.
